Hi, I’m Brian, The Boolion, and I am NOT a cocktail expert. I’ve only been getting into cocktails for a year or two, and this is my blog of the process of discovery. I am enthusiastic about the trip though, and it’s surprising how much you can learn about a topic in a short time if you’re really enjoying it, especially with the tutelage available from the great writers and bloggers of the new craft cocktail/ classic cocktail movement that got into this thing long before I did.

So this is a blog for people interested in spirits and cocktails, and who want to explore more in good company.

On the other hand, if you ARE an expert, I’d love to hear your suggestions and corrections.

Finally, living in Taipei makes this journey a little more difficult. Many ingredients are hard to come by, if not impossible to find. If you live in Taiwan, I hope to be able to report on where you can get the spirits, liqueurs and other ingredients needed for some serious mixology. And if you happen to know where something special can be bought, all the better. PLEASE let me know.

(Taipei, Taiwan)

PS if you’d like to contact me, my email is bulaien (sounds like boolion) then ‘at’ and then gmail.

    Hey Brian,
Loved reading through your blog just now. We are actually opening up a speakeasy bar in Taipei in about a month and I would love to talk to you about some ideas about Taiwan drinking culture. If you have some time over the next week to meet up, let me know!
